My name is Marcia Humphrey and I am a seven-year breast
cancer survivor. I could not have  made
it through my diagnosis and six months of treatment without the
support of several fellow breast cancer survivors whose continuous
encouragement gave me hope. After I recovered, I had a great desire
to "pay it forward". That’s why I have created the
Breast Cancer Survivor Pin.
As you know, the pink ribbon is widely recognized
as a symbol for breast cancer. This modified design includes a gold
‘S’ to let others know the wearer is a survivor. My hope
is that the pin will create a caring spirit of camaraderie and,
with that, achieve several goals.
First, if a person is recently diagnosed and
she sees someone wearing the Survivor Pin, it will telegraph a message
of hope that she, too will be a survivor. Also, if a recently diagnosed
patient has a question, she will know the wearer has been through
the process. This shared experience will help ease concerns, and
make her feel comfortable in approaching the survivor for information.
When survivors wear this pin, affected family members might also
feel comfortable seeking encouragement or answers to their questions.
Because my mission is to foster support among women
who have survived, and those who are yet to survive, I donate the
majority of all proceeds to recognized breast cancer research organizations.

and survival rates for this disease.
